Comedian Will Ferrell smashed a globe with his fist, caught an arrow in his mouth and travelled to Sweden aboard a storage tanker on Sunday. And it had nothing to do with promoting another goofball buddy flick. Automaker marked its newfound ambitions as an electric carmaker.
Archive oblique aerial imagery offers the potential to reconstruct the former geometry of valley glaciers and other landscape surfaces. Whilst the use of Structure from Motion (SfM) photogrammetry with multiview stereopsis (MVS) to process small format imagery is now well established in the geosciences, the potential of the technique for extracting topographic data from archive oblique aerial imagery is unclear. Here, SfM MVS is used to reconstruct the former topography of two high Arctic glaciers (Midtre and Austre Lovnbreen, Svalbard, Norway) using three archive oblique aerial images obtained by the Norwegian Polar Institute in 1936.
The gripping testimony presented by Democrats put the Senate in a spell even Trump’s lawyers seemed overwhelmed by it but only momentarily. On Friday, Trump’s defense team pivoted to focus their argument on a First Amendment defense. The House managers had heavily cited the speech Trump gave to supporters the day of the attack on the Capitol, where he told them to “fight like hell.” In an attempt to downplay that rhetoric, the defense made a false equivalence argument that Democrats’ use of the word “fight” in political rhetoric amounted to the same thing..
The start of another Hollywood disaster flick? No, it’s what the US Geological Survey predicts what will happen if a major quake hits along the Hayward Fault. But researchers at the USGS didn’t just dream up this nightmare out of thin air. They conducted a scientifically realistic scenario, using computer simulations of the way seismic waves travel, in an effort to spur Bay Area residents to prepare for the “big one” that is long overdue to strike the region..
CamerasThe cameras are where the magic happens, at least partially. The two camera setup on the Spectacles 3 enables users to create AR content in a format that the company calls 3D Snaps. The second camera means you’re capturing an offset image, which can be used to measure depth, letting you take 3D photos which can then be tweaked further with a large selection of AR filters.
